Constitution
University of Arizona Retirees Association
ARTICLE I
The name of this organization shall be the University of Arizona Retirees Association .
ARTICLE II
The purpose of this organization shall be to foster the benefit, interests, and well-being of the retired faculty and staff of the University of Arizona through social, educational, and promotional activities, as well as to encourage continuing contact between retirees and the University.
ARTICLE III
Membership shall be open to retired faculty and staff of the University of Arizona , to their spouses, and to other persons closely associated with the University as specified in the By-Laws.
ARTICLE IV
The officers shall include a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. The Vice President shall be elected every year, and shall become President the following year. The Secretary and the Treasurer shall be elected for two-year terms, in alternate years: the Secretary being elected one year and the Treasurer the next. The President presides at meetings and coordinates the activities of the Association. The Vice President acts in the absence of the President and assists in coordination. The Secretary keeps notes of meetings, the membership roll, and the official records; the Secretary also maintains the correspondence. The Treasurer collects and disburses funds as appropriate, keeps books of account, and renders accounting.
ARTICLE V
The Executive Committee, composed of the four elected officers, shall conduct routine business between regular meetings, appoint committees, and perform further functions as defined herein and in the By-Laws.
ARTICLE VI
There shall be an annual meeting for the election of officers and for other Association business. Additional meetings shall be held as determined by the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VII
The Constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of the Association. Proposed amendments must be circulated to the membership in writing at least 20 days prior to the meeting. For purposes of amendment a quorum shall consist of those active members in attendance. A Two-thirds majority of the members present shall be required for adoption of the amendment.
